the BESSESENs
Meet the Bessesens.
A strange breed of people living north of the Arctic Circle. I am hoping this page will soon be my main source of income (through old-fashioned blackmail and revelations...)
My parents are Sollaug(mum) and Atle(dad). I also
have a bigger - older brother called Are; he tries playing golf and 'sharing' his
football knowledge. They are all living back home in Tromsø. Are married Trude in 2001,
and their additions to the family are two girls; Olivia (oct '03) and Mimmi (nov '06).
We stay in touch quite well and we're hoping they will get in the habit of popping by Cape Town for regular visits.
I was born in Bergen (south-western Norway). When I was three, my dad got a job at the University of Tromsø for a year and we ended up staying! (I had intended to go to London for only a year so this may be a Bessesen pattern I hadn't spotted before writing this).
The family house is a fair drive outside the center of Tromsø, which was frustrating sometimes as we were growing up, but looking back I wouldn't change a thing about it. It was fantastic! All the space and freedom anyone could ask for. We had (still have) the mountains just behind our house and the sea in front of it.
